Wedding Photo Scavenger Hunt: 30 Ideas and a QR Code Album
A wedding photo scavenger hunt, also called a photo challenge, gives guests a list of fun photo prompts to complete during the day. It breaks the ice, gets people moving around the room and brings in photos you would never have asked for. This guide gives you 30 prompts, shows how to present them on table cards, and explains how to collect every photo in one place with a QR code and no app.
What is a wedding photo scavenger hunt?
Guests receive a card with a list of photo missions: "a photo with someone you just met", "the best dance move", "something blue". They complete as many as they can and upload the photos. At the end you have a funny, honest record of the day from every angle, and you can celebrate the most creative guests.
It works well because guests already have their phones in hand, and a task makes sharing photos feel like a game instead of a chore.
How to run it: the simple version
- Pick 10 to 15 prompts from the list below and print them on a card.
- Put the card on every table next to a QR code that leads to your wedding album.
- Announce it in a short speech or let the DJ mention it after dinner.
- Guests scan the code and upload as they go. No app, no sign-up.
- Pick winners at the end of the evening or the next day, if you want a prize.

Create a wedding album →Tips for a good photo challenge
- Keep it short. Ten to fifteen prompts are enough; too many feels like homework.
- Mix easy and creative prompts. Everyone should be able to complete a few.
- Make it optional. Some guests will play, others will just upload what they like.
- Add a prize. A bottle, a voucher or a toast is plenty. Judge by creativity, not quality.
- Include prompts for all ages, so children and grandparents can join.
- Work in your theme, such as colours, location or inside jokes.
How to present the prompts
- Table cards: one card per table with the prompts and the QR code.
- A sign at the entrance: a short note and the QR code so guests see it on arrival.
- A line on the invitation or wedding website: "Scan the code at the venue and join our photo challenge".
- An announcement: one sentence from the host or DJ is enough.
Keep the wording playful and make sure the QR code is large enough to scan from a normal distance.
Collecting the photos with a QR album
With an Albums.ink event album, guests scan the QR code and upload photos and videos straight from the phone browser. They do not install an app or create an account. Photos are stored at up to 4K (3840 px on the long side), and each video can be up to 50 MB.
- Hold guest photos: if you want to approve photos before anyone sees them, turn on holding and pre-approve each one.
- Hide or keep for friends: decide per photo what goes to everyone.
- A guest list with counts shows how many photos each guest uploaded. Guests who did not sign in appear as anonymous, so ask the winners to tell you which photos are theirs.
- Download everything as one ZIP after the wedding, with files sorted by chapter.
Storage runs for 6 months from the first upload and can be extended. Prices are one-time: Small $39.99 (up to about 100 guests), Medium $69.99 and Large $129.99. Guests never pay. For a broader comparison, see our guide to the wedding photo sharing app.
What to do with the photos afterwards
- Send the best ones with your thank-you message.
- Make a slideshow of the funniest finds and play it at a brunch. Our wedding slideshow guide shows how.
- Add chapters to the album, such as "Ceremony", "Dance floor" and "Photo challenge".
- Add a voice note of your own next to the photos you love.
Good to know
Albums.ink is a website: there is no mobile app and no live photo wall at the venue. There is no automatic phone sync, so guests choose the photos to upload. Photos are not edited by AI and there is no face recognition. Guests can delete only their own photos.
Common mistakes
- Prompts that are too complicated or need props nobody has.
- No clear instructions for how to submit photos.
- A QR code printed too small or only in one place.
- No announcement, so half of the guests never notice the game.
- Waiting a week before asking guests to upload.
